The StM epee blades have a wide base and an optimal weight of different parts, which allows the fencer to “feel” the tip and easily manage the weapon. This is very important for professionals. All blades have an ideal symmetry about the wire.
A SEMI FIE technical committee regulated standard rigidity test with an 80-gramme weight has showed that the sag of span of epee blades is 45-55 mm. The blades are produced with a long shank of 170 mm for a French handle, or with a short shank of 70 mm for a pistol-handle.
The blades marked “StM-FIE” and “StM-FIE N” are the ones that have passed through a certification by the SEMI FIE technical committee. They are officially registered by FIE and recommended for use on any official competitions including the “World Cup” legs, the World Championships, and the Olympic Games.
The “StM-FIE” ("maraguen") blades went through the first homologation in 1999. In April 2000 these blades proved their high level during the second homologation. The average cyclic weariness indicator of the first certification was 21043 cycles, which is three times more than the FIE norms. The “StM-FIE N” blades were homologated in April 2000 with an average cyclic weariness indicator of 18143 cycles. That is 2.5 times more than the FIE norm. The results are even higher than similar indicators for a majority of companies that produce blades from the “maraguen” steel!
The SEMI FIE committee certificate #0002 of 13.07.2000.
You can read more detailed information about the official certifications in the " FIE Certifications" page of our site.

No.1 = 775 mm
No.2 = 800 mm
No.3 = 825 mm
No.4 = 850 mm
No.5 = 875 mm
The sizes of epee practice blades (without the size of the handle):
No.0 = 775 mm
No.1 = 800 mm
No.2 = 825 mm
No.3 = 850 mm
No.4 = 875 mm
No.5 = 900 mm
The groove is cut on all handle of the blade that allows to define length of the handle (for french handle or pistol).
Example:
